Lemongrass essential oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus), which is closely related to citronella grass, is steam distilled from the leaves of the Cymbopogon flexuosus, a grassy plant native to India, Sri Lanka, Burma, and Thailand. This oil has a fresh and powerful aroma like the fragrance of lemons.
